Cylinder Lamp Styling & Placement Guide

With their elongated silhouette and glowing velvet finish, these slim cylinder lamps double as ambient art pieces. The tall profile diffuses light through the rich fabric texture, casting a soft, warm glow above and below. Here is how to position and style both the 40cm and 57cm heights in a hallway setting.

Placement Options

• On the floor: Place the taller 57cm version directly on the floor in an unlit corner or beside an entryway console to add vertical interest. Floor placement draws the eye down, making narrow hallways feel taller and more expansive while washing the ground in low-level ambient light.
• On a sideboard or console table: The 40cm height sits comfortably on a hallway sideboard without overwhelming surrounding decor. Position it off-centre on a narrow table surface to balance higher wall elements like mirrors or framed prints.
• On low tables or nooks: Tuck either size onto a low accent table, inside an alcove, or on a low shelf. The slim diameter footprint ensures it stays flush against the wall in high-traffic zones without impeding movement.

Styling Tips

• Layer with textures: Pair the lush velvet surface against contrasting natural materials—such as raw wood console tables, polished stone, or a woven hallway runner—to accentuate the fabric’s premium texture.
• Anchor with wall art: When placing on a sideboard or low table, position the lamp slightly in front of a tall wall mirror or artwork. The soft upward glow will highlight the wall texture and bounce secondary light across the hallway.
• Group in pairs: Combine the 40cm and 57cm lamps together on the floor or on a wide sideboard to create a structural, staggered height feature, layering light at two distinct levels. This arrangement can also be used to create a boutique hotel bedroom aesthetic by placing them on bedside cabinets.
• Style tip: Pair with cushions and a matching throw on the bed.

Lampshade Care Guide

Light Bulbs
Recommended 450-lumen. A 450-lumen bulb is equivalent to a traditional 40-watt incandescent bulb.

Universal Fitting
Includes a removable adapter ring to accommodate both B22 and E27 lamp bases.

Cleaning
Dust is the primary cause of velvet dullness. Regular gentle upkeep prevents particles from settling deep into the weave.

• Use a soft velvet brush or clothes brush: Sweep light, unidirectional strokes along the natural direction of the pile (downward or aligned with the weave). Avoid aggressive back-and-forth scrubbing.
• The lint roller technique: Use a low-tack clothing lint roller for light lint or pet hair. Gently roll across the surface without applying inward pressure.
• Microfibre cloth care: Wipe lightly with a clean, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid wet wipes or moist cloths during regular cleaning, as water can mat the pile.
• Vacuuming: Attach a clean, soft-bristle upholstery nozzle to your vacuum. Set the suction power to its lowest setting. Lightly glide the brush over the exterior and interior fabric. Never press the bare metal or plastic nozzle directly onto the velvet.
